A continuous Danish-language commemorative legend in two concentric registers encircles the central device, celebrating the virtues of loyalty, bravery, and the fame of the Norwegian people throughout the entire world. The inscription reads: AERE • MOD • TROSKAB • DAPPERHED • OG • HVAD • DER • GIVER • KLIPPER • LÆRE • DEN • HEELE • VERDEN • KAND • BLANT • NORSKE. The reverse commemorates King Frederik IV's royal visit to Norway in 1704 and was struck as a so-called Rejsedaler (travel dollar) to mark the occasion. |
