Obverse description Central oval cartouche bearing the quartered arms of Bavaria and the Palatinate, with a small central escutcheon of the imperial orb, the whole supported by two rampant lions. A royal crown surmounts the shield, with the collar and badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended below. The split date 16-27 appears flanking the crown in the upper field. The surrounding legend in Latin identifies the elector by his full titles.

Reverse description The enthroned Madonna, crowned and enveloped in a radiant glory of fine linear rays emanating from her figure, is depicted seated upon a bank of clouds, holding the Christ Child on her left knee; the Child raises one hand in blessing and holds an orb in the other. The composition is rendered in high relief in a devotional Baroque style. The surrounding legend, separated by a stop, reads as a verse from Psalm 18, serving as a Marian invocation.
