The margrave holds an upright sword over his right shoulder, with the date 1610 divided across the field to either side of the figure. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the Latin legend inscribed along the outer periphery reading GEORG.FRID.D.G.MAR.BAD.ET.H.IN.S.V.L.LAND.GRAF.SVSENB.ETC. The portrait is rendered in the high-relief hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century German goldsmithing. |
