Applied over the field of the host coin is a rectangular incuse countermark bearing the letters 'S' over 'VI' in two lines, struck by the Colonial Government of Saint Vincent to validate the coin for local circulation. The countermark is boldly impressed in an upright rectangular punch, centrally placed on the bust side of the host coin.
