| Obverse description | The Polish crowned eagle displayed without crown — the arms of the Polish People's Republic — occupies the central field, with wings spread and head turned to the right. The date 1988 is divided by the eagle's legs at centre, with '19' to the left and '88' to the right. The circular legend 'POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA' arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script.
