| Descrizione del dritto | A highly detailed three-dimensional sculptural rendering of the Venus de Milo occupies the full face of the coin, depicting the armless goddess in a contrapposto stance with draped fabric falling from the hips, her upper torso bare and turned slightly to the right. The figure stands on a rectangular plinth, rendered in high relief with exceptional sculptural fidelity to the original Hellenistic marble work housed in the Louvre. The Coat of Arms of Cameroon appears in the lower field. The encircling legend in the upper and lower fields reads in both French and English, incorporating the bilingual national motto and coin denomination. |

The BEAC issues currency on behalf of six Central African nations — Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — under a monetary union established in 1972 and backed by the French Treasury through a fixed parity arrangement that still holds today. Large-format silver pieces like this one are struck exclusively for the collector market; none enter circulation in member states.
The Venus de Milo was acquired by French diplomat Louis Brest in 1820 on the Aegean island of Milos and transferred to the Louvre the following year — its arms already missing, their original configuration still unresolved by scholarship.
