| 正面铭文 | ETAT COMORIEN 1976 5.000 FRANCS |
| 背面描述 | A forward-facing portrait bust of Saïd Mohamed Cheikh, first president of the Comoro Islands, dominates the central field, depicted wearing a traditional fez hat and suit with tie. The effigy is rendered in fine relief with naturalistic detail. The legend SAÏD MOHAMED CHEIKH arcs around the upper periphery, with his birth year 1904 inscribed to the lower left and death year 1970 to the lower right of the portrait, flanking the bust. |

Said Mohamed Cheikh led the Comoros as president of the Governing Council from 1962 until his death in 1970, making him the dominant political figure of the late French territorial period. This commemorative was struck six years after his death, during the turbulent window following the unilateral declaration of independence in 1975 — a period when the new state was simultaneously asserting sovereignty and relying heavily on French institutional infrastructure, including the mint, to produce its coinage.
The 1976 issue was part of a broader commemorative program, with the 5000 Francs denomination placing it firmly in collector rather than circulation territory from the outset.
