正面描述 The obverse of this Zimbabwe Dollar Travellers Cheque is printed in red and green on a light guilloche underprint, with the denomination ZW $5000 displayed in the upper left and right corners. A central vignette shows the circular seal of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, flanked by two signature lines — one for the countersigning holder and one for the Acting Governor — along with the printed legend "Five Thousand Zimbabwe Dollars" to the left. The lower portion carries a MICR-encoded serial number strip, and the cheque bears issuer details, a date field, and the notation "Valid only in Zimbabwe" across the face.

备注

Zimbabwe's travellers cheque series was an improvised response to the collapse of normal cash distribution infrastructure. By 2003, hyperinflationary pressure was already forcing the Reserve Bank to issue denominations that would have seemed absurd just years earlier, and these cheques functioned as a parallel high-value instrument when conventional banknotes couldn't keep pace with demand. The $5,000 face value, which sounds large, was losing purchasing power almost faster than the notes could be printed and distributed.

Pick 16 is the watermark-only security tier — no security thread, no colour-shifting ink. Thin protection for an instrument of this value, but consistent with the constrained production circumstances of the period.
