| Anmerkungen |
Zimbabwe's travellers cheque series was an improvised response to the collapse of normal cash distribution infrastructure. By 2003, hyperinflationary pressure was already forcing the Reserve Bank to issue denominations that would have seemed absurd just years earlier, and these cheques functioned as a parallel high-value instrument when conventional banknotes couldn't keep pace with demand. The $5,000 face value, which sounds large, was losing purchasing power almost faster than the notes could be printed and distributed.
Pick 16 is the watermark-only security tier — no security thread, no colour-shifting ink. Thin protection for an instrument of this value, but consistent with the constrained production circumstances of the period.
