Reverse description Printed entirely in green, the reverse is dominated by a central oval guilloche medallion enclosing the numeral 5000 in bold intaglio, flanked by two large rectangular denomination panels bearing '5000' on the left and right. Elaborate scrollwork and lathe-work fill the surrounding field, with symmetrical ornamental vignettes in each corner. The inscriptions 'THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' arc across the top and 'FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS' runs along the lower margin.
