Obverse description Central intaglio portrait vignette of Sun Yat-sen set within an oval frame, surrounded by guilloche borders with corner ornaments bearing the denomination 伍仟 in Chinese characters. Two official seals appear beneath the portrait, flanking the lower panel, which carries an ornate guilloche cartouche with the Chinese denomination inscription 關金伍仟圓. Serial numbers are printed twice in red ink, one at the upper left and one at the lower right.
Obverse lettering 行銀央中 關 金 伍 仟 圓 印年六十三國民華中
(Translation: Central Bank of China Five Thousand Customs Gold Units Printed in the 36th year of the Republic of China)
Reverse description Central intaglio vignette of the Central Bank of China headquarters building in Shanghai, with the bank's English name inscribed in a panel above the architectural motif. A large guilloche cartouche below carries the numeral 5000 and the denomination legend in English, flanked by fine lathe-work borders. Two facsimile manuscript signatures of the General Manager and Assistant General Manager appear at the foot of the note, above the printer's imprint and date.
