| Description de l’avers | Printed in red and brown, the obverse centres on an intaglio portrait of Simón Bolívar after the painting by Juan Lovera, flanked to the right by the Coat of Arms of the Bolívar family and to the left by the watermark zone. The issuer name BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA appears at upper left, with the numeral 5000 in each corner save the lower left; the denomination CINCO MIL BOLÍVARES and the payment clause PAGADEROS AL PORTADOR EN LAS OFICINAS DEL BANCO are printed in the centre, where the initial C of CINCO employs an optically variable ink. A latent-image security underprint bearing the letter V is positioned between the portrait vignette and the Coat of Arms, with dual serial numbers at upper right and lower left. |
