Anmerkungen

Issued by the short-lived revolutionary government during the November Uprising against Russian rule, this note belongs to one of the most politically charged emission series in Polish monetary history. The Treasury of the Kingdom of Poland was operating under siege conditions — Russian forces were already mobilizing when these notes entered circulation, and the uprising collapsed by September 1831, barely months after issue.

The Warsaw printing was a necessity, not a choice. With Russian authority suspended and no access to foreign printers, the revolutionary treasury produced everything domestically, under considerable duress. After the uprising's suppression, Russian authorities declared the notes void and moved systematically to remove them from circulation. Surviving high-denomination examples are correspondingly rare.
