| Obverse description | The obverse is printed on a lavender and coral polymer substrate with a large transparent oval window at right incorporating a shell motif in intaglio. At upper left, the bank title "RESERVE BANK OF VANUATU" appears in red, with the denomination "500 / FIVE HUNDRED VATU" in dark ink at centre-top over a multicolour guilloche underprint. A central vignette renders a traditionally dressed ni-Vanuatu warrior in fine intaglio engraving, set within a circular guilloche, with a foliate sprig and the national motto scroll "Long God yumi stanap" below.
