Beschrijving voorzijde Central field features a stylized five-pointed star rendered in a geometric, fragmented design, with individual angular segments radiating outward from the centre against a highly polished mirror field. The composition conveys a sense of dynamic dispersal, evoking the shattering of totalitarian symbols. The legend REPUBLIKA SLOVENIJA arcs along the upper periphery, flanking the date 1995, all inscribed in upright Latin lettering.

Aanvullende informatie

Slovenia issued this coin on the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, at a moment when the newly independent republic — having declared separation from Yugoslavia only four years earlier — was actively constructing a national historical narrative distinct from its federal past. The Slovenian experience under Axis occupation included the forced deportation of tens of thousands of civilians to concentration and labor camps, a fact the postwar Yugoslav state had folded into a broader pan-Yugoslav resistance story. This issue reclaimed that history as specifically Slovenian.
