| 正面描述 | Front-facing draped bust of Pope Paul VI, depicted from the upper body, with the left hand raised in a gesture of blessing and wearing a pontifical hat. Below the effigy, a globe is depicted bearing the names of cities visited during the Pope's apostolic journeys. The surrounding legend inscribed along the periphery reads: BANK OF UGANDA PAUL VI KAMPALA 1969 JERUSALEM 1964 BOMBAY 1964 NEW-YORK 1965 FATIMA 1967 CONSTANTINOPLE 1967 BOGOTA 1968 GENEVA 1969. |

| 背面描述 | The reverse die is entirely blank and unadorned, presenting a plain, flat field with no design, legend, or devices of any kind. A small rectangular hallmark or assay mark is visible at the base of the field near the lower rim, consistent with the trial or pattern nature of this piece. The surface shows the milled border at the periphery. |

Trial pieces for this 1969 Ugandan issue were produced in connection with Pope Paul VI's visit to Uganda in July of that year — the first papal visit to Africa in history. The Vatican's engagement with newly independent African nations was a deliberate diplomatic and ecclesiastical initiative, and Uganda, with its significant Catholic population dating to the martyrdoms of 1886, was the symbolic centerpiece.
Gold-plated brass trials of this kind were struck to evaluate die quality and finish before committing to precious metal production. This is a reverse trial specifically, meaning the obverse die was not yet paired — or was deliberately excluded from the test striking.
