| Description de l’avers | The obverse face of this sculptural silver coin is struck in the form of the left lateral half of a full-metal-jacket pistol cartridge, rendered in antique finish. The upper portion bears the commemorative legend '75TH ANNIVERSARY' in raised Latin lettering beneath the ogival bullet tip. At centre, a circular aperture is incorporated into the design to accommodate an embedded genuine D-Day cartridge case insert. In the lower register, within a raised circular frame, appears the Tanzanian national coat of arms flanked by the legend 'TANZANIA' above and '500 SHILLINGS' below. The date '2019' appears in the lower right field of the cartridge base section. |

Tanzania's entry into the commemorative bullion market has been dominated by novelty formats, and this piece — housing an actual WWII-era bullet projectile embedded in the coin — is among the more literal interpretations of battlefield commemoration. The 75th anniversary of D-Day in 2019 prompted a wave of issues from mints worldwide, most of them licensing arrangements with small sovereign issuers whose connection to Normandy is purely administrative.
The bullet itself is sourced and authenticated separately from the coin blank, with production handled by a European private mint operating under a Bank of Tanzania licensing agreement — a now-common arrangement for African sovereign novelty issues.
