| Obverse description | The obverse face of this sculptural silver coin is struck in the form of the left lateral half of a full-metal-jacket pistol cartridge, rendered in antique finish. The upper portion bears the commemorative legend '75TH ANNIVERSARY' in raised Latin lettering beneath the ogival bullet tip. At centre, a circular aperture is incorporated into the design to accommodate an embedded genuine D-Day cartridge case insert. In the lower register, within a raised circular frame, appears the Tanzanian national coat of arms flanked by the legend 'TANZANIA' above and '500 SHILLINGS' below. The date '2019' appears in the lower right field of the cartridge base section. |
