Obverse description A panoramic landscape scene depicting the Austrian Alpine foothills, rendered in a stylized graphic relief. In the left foreground stands a large ecclesiastical building with a domed tower set among coniferous trees; to the right, a medieval castle tower and an onion-domed church steeple rise above rolling hills interspersed with deciduous trees and orchards. A distant mountain range fills the upper background. The legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH arcs along the upper field, with the denomination 500 SCHILLING and the date 1995 inscribed along the lower field. The engraver's initials appear in the lower central field.

Reverse description A finely engraved scene depicting a male figure, dressed in period costume of the early nineteenth century, seated on a traditional wooden sledge and descending a forest slope. He is shown three-quarter facing, grasping the sledge's curved runners, surrounded by tall coniferous trees whose branches frame the composition. Behind him, a load of logs secured by a chain is visible, evoking traditional Alpine timber-hauling activity. The highly detailed relief captures the movement and texture of the forest setting with consummate artistry. The field is otherwise unlettered, the design filling the full coin diameter to the inner rim.
