Obverse description	A traditional Maldivian dhow under full sail occupies the right portion of the note, rendered in red intaglio against an orange and peach guilloche underprint. The left margin carries an ornate vignette of a sea conch shell and tropical foliage, while the denomination numeral '500' appears at lower left. The date and two authorising signatures are inscribed in Thaana script at centre, flanked by a vertical security thread.

The issuer's name in English runs along the lower margin in bold serif lettering.
