Obverse description The obverse bears a multi-line Arabic-script legend filling the entire field in a bold, somewhat crude hand-cut style characteristic of early Khorezm coinage. The inscription, arranged in horizontal registers across the coin's face, reads the denomination, date in the Islamic Hijri calendar (1339 or 1340), and the issuing authority of the Khorezm People's Soviet Republic. The flan is notably irregular in shape, with a roughly incuse border of diagonal striations visible around the periphery. The execution is utilitarian rather than artistic, reflecting the rudimentary production conditions of the Tashkent Mint during this period.
