| Description de l’avers | The obverse is printed in shades of blue, teal, and gold on a fine guilloche underprint of geometric Islamic arabesque patterns. To the left, an ornate arched gateway with a globe motif is rendered in intaglio, accompanied by a vertical serial number in red; to the right, vignettes of a traditional dhow and a palm-fringed coastal scene appear against a latticework background. The Arabic denomination خمسمائة ريال is inscribed in large calligraphic script at centre, with two signature lines below — وزير المالية (Minister of Finance) and المحافظ (Governor) — and the numeral 500 appears in bold at lower left and lower right. |

Qatar Central Bank's 2007 series was the first issued under that institutional name following the 2006 rebrand from Qatar Monetary Agency — a distinction with real consequence for collectors since the two parallel series share some design DNA but differ in issuing authority text. The 500 Riyal sits at the top of that series as the highest denomination.
Thomas De La Rue printed the note in London, as they have handled Qatari currency production across multiple series. The color-shifting ink on this denomination is applied to a specific numeral panel, a feature typically reserved for the top value in any given series and notably absent from lower denominations in the same 2007 issue.
