Queen Victoria is depicted with an elaborate upswept coiffure adorned with a laurel sprig, wearing a pearl necklace and drop earring, her bust draped; Prince Albert appears immediately behind, clean-shaven with a short moustache and a plain draped truncation, his bust slightly overlapping hers. A decorative trident-like ornamental device appears to the lower right of the field. The circumferential legend VICTORIA REGINA + ALBERTUS PRINCEPS CONJUX arcs around the upper field within a beaded border, while the date in Roman numerals MDCCCXIX is prominently displayed in the lower exergue. |
