| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of General José de San Martín occupies the right half of the note, rendered in purple-violet tones against a multicolour guilloche underprint of green, yellow, and red floral and geometric patterns. The denomination numeral 500 appears in large blue-purple digits at upper left and in a smaller intaglio panel at lower right, with the legend BANCO CENTRAL DE LA REPUBLICA ARGENTINA and QUINIENTOS Pesos Argentinos centred across the upper and middle fields respectively.
