| Obverse description | Right-facing portrait bust of Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez occupying the centre of the coin, rendered in bold relief against a plain field. The mintmark (So) appears to the right of the effigy. On earlier issues, the engraver's signature F.ORE.P. is incised along the right side of the bust truncation. The legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs along the upper periphery, with the cardinal's name CARDENAL RAUL SILVA HENRIQUEZ disposed along the lower portion of the obverse field. |

| Reverse description | The denomination 500 in large numerals dominates the copper-aluminium centre, with the word PESOS inscribed below in bold lettering and the date positioned in the lower exergue. The nickel brass outer ring features a laurel wreath framing the central disc on both sides, with the branches crossing at the base. A single five-pointed star is placed at the apex of the ring above the wreath, serving as an emblematic device. |
