| Descrizione del dritto | The national coat of arms of the People's Republic of Mozambique occupies the central field, depicting a shield with crossed rifle and hoe over a rising sun, supported by a book, a cogwheel, and stalks of maize, all enclosed within a wreath of leaves tied at the base with a ribbon bearing the legend REPUBLICA POPULAR DE MOCAMBIQUE. A five-pointed star surmounts the arms at the top. The circular legend REPUBLICA POPULAR DE MOCAMBIQUE runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 500 METICAIS is inscribed in large characters at the lower portion of the field. |

| Informazioni aggiuntive |
Mozambique's wildlife series of the late 1980s and early 1990s was produced almost entirely for the export collector market — hard currency was desperately needed, and the government's agreement with foreign minting contractors was one of the more pragmatic revenue strategies of the FRELIMO era. The country was still grinding through a civil war with RENAMO that had killed hundreds of thousands and displaced millions by 1990.
KM#113 was struck at Valcambi in Switzerland, not domestically — Mozambique had no meaningful mint infrastructure of its own.
