Obverse description The obverse features a stylized representation of the Croatian national flag occupying the upper half of the field, with the Croatian coat of arms — the red and white chequy shield surmounted by the historical crowns of the five Croatian lands — centered at the top. The denomination '500' appears prominently in large numerals in the lower half of the field, with the currency name 'KUNA' inscribed below in bold relief. A circular legend reads 'REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA' along the upper rim, with the commemorative dates '30.V.1990.' and '30.V.1995.' flanking the lower periphery, and the inscription 'DAN DRŽAVNOSTI' (Statehood Day) completing the legend around the lower arc. The mint mark 'MD' and the year abbreviation ''95' appear to either side of the denomination in the field.

Reverse description The reverse displays an enlarged and stylized rendering of the Croatian coat of arms arranged as a bold chequered grid filling the entire field, reproducing the five historical heraldic shields of the Croatian lands: the ancient red-and-white chequy of Croatia (upper centre), the blue field with a gold six-pointed star and crescent of the historic Slavonia shield (centre), the running marten and horizontal stripes of Slavonia (left), the pine tree and gold bear of Dalmatia (upper right), and the wavy lines representing the rivers of the lower panels. The design is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, with alternating polished and frosted surfaces accentuating the heraldic motifs. No legends or inscriptions appear on the reverse.
