| Obverse description | Orange and black on blue guilloche underprint. An intaglio portrait of nuclear physicist Niels Bohr (1885–1962) is positioned at right, flanked by two vertical rows of orange ovals each bearing the yin-yang symbol — Bohr's personal emblem — with the inscription 'Niels Bohr' and a small atomic model vignette nearby; in the upper-left quadrant, a hologram foil strip alternates between a 'D' monogram and an atomic model above the numeral '500', replacing the earlier plain orange square of the first type. Serial numerals and signatures are rendered in luminescent ink, and UV-reactive ink is applied to selected design elements visible only under ultraviolet illumination. |
