| Obverse description | The national emblem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic is depicted in the centre of the obverse, comprising a stylized landscape featuring That Luang stupa flanked by forests and a road, all enclosed within a wreath of rice stalks tied with a ribbon bearing an inscription in Lao script, and surmounted by a cogwheel at the base. The surrounding field is mirror-polished, with a beaded inner border running the full circumference. The legend 'THE LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC' arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin capitals, while the denomination '500 KIP' appears at the bottom and the specifications '20 g' and 'Ag 999' are inscribed on either side of the emblem in the lower field. |
