| Obverse description | The national emblem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic is depicted in the centre of the obverse, comprising a stylized landscape featuring That Luang stupa flanked by forests and a road, all enclosed within a wreath of rice stalks tied with a ribbon bearing an inscription in Lao script, and surmounted by a cogwheel at the base. The surrounding field is mirror-polished, with a beaded inner border running the full circumference. Laos has issued a consistent stream of wildlife-themed silver pieces aimed squarely at the collector market, with little to no intention of circulation. The Indochinese tiger, once ranging across much of mainland Southeast Asia, had an estimated wild population of fewer than 20 animals remaining in Laos by the time this coin was struck — a collapse driven by poaching and habitat loss so severe that the species is functionally extinct in the country.
