| 表面の説明 | Central field depicts a detailed frontal view of Pha That Luang (the Great Stupa), the national symbol of Laos, rendered with fine architectural detail including the characteristic tiered spire, surrounding cloister walls, decorative pinnacles, and flanking lamp posts. The legend BANK OF THE LAO PDR arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 500 KIP appears in the lower field. Metal specifications 28.28 g and Ag 925 are inscribed on the left and right sides respectively, between an inner beaded border and the smooth outer rim. |

Laos has no Olympic tradition to speak of — the nation first competed at the Games in 1980 and has never won a medal — making this a purely commercial issue aimed at the collector market rather than any expression of national athletic achievement. The Bank of the Lao PDR has produced a consistent stream of licensed commemorative silver in this weight and fineness since the 1990s, nearly all of it destined for European and Asian coin dealers rather than domestic circulation.
