The scales are elaborately stylized with decorative flourishes, and the central beam is surmounted by a lotus-like finial. Surrounding this central device is a broad annular border featuring a detailed star chart with constellation lines, planetary symbols including Venus and others, and graduated arc markings suggestive of an astronomical or astrological chart. Additional zodiac glyphs, including Cancer, Gemini, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Aquarius among others, are distributed across the border, while alchemical element symbols appear at the cardinal positions.
