| Obverse description | Two crossed palm fronds surmounted by a spiral shell emblem occupy the central field, rendered in a stylized indigenous artistic style. Flanking the central device on either side are traditional Melanesian geometric patterns resembling woven or carved motifs. The bilingual legend NOUVELLES-HÉBRIDES arcs along the upper periphery and NEW HEBRIDES along the lower periphery, with the denomination 500f inscribed in the lower central field. |
