A ribbon scroll below the shield bears the national motto in Latin script: FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 500 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in the lower field.

附加信息	Benin issues coins under the BCEAO framework — the West African Economic and Monetary Union — meaning it holds no independent minting authority and produces no circulating coinage of its own. This piece, like virtually all modern Beninese numismatic output, was contracted to a European private mint and sold directly to collectors. It never circulated in Cotonou or anywhere else.
