| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Cameroon is displayed centrally in the field, depicting a shield bearing scales of justice surmounted by a five-pointed star, flanked by two crossed fasces with axe heads, and supported by a scroll inscribed REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON / REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN. The bilingual national motto PAIX / PEACE and TRAVAIL / WORK and PATRIE / FATHERLAND radiates around the shield. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 500 FRANCS CFA appears prominently in the lower field.
