Obverse description The central field features a coloured panoramic vignette of iconic Italian landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, a domed basilica, a classical statue, a Renaissance cathedral, the Rialto Bridge, and a gondola, all rendered in vivid polychrome against a mirror-like proof field. Above the vignette, the legend ITALY is inscribed in large capital letters. Below, the coat of arms of Chad — depicting a shield supported by two lions rampant — is flanked to the left by the legend REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD / 2021 and to the right by the denomination 500 FRANCS CFA. The fineness inscription 6 grams .999 Fine Silver appears in the lower exergue.

Additional information

Chad's CFA franc is issued under the authority of the Bank of Central African States, but the novelty coinage program — of which this piece is a part — is licensed through private minting arrangements with European firms targeting the collector market rather than circulation. The Italian bottle cap motif belongs to a broader series of such issues exploiting Chad's relatively permissive approach to novelty legal tender authorization.

Collectors should know these are not produced by or for the Chadian government in any meaningful fiscal sense.
