| 正面描述 | Portrait of an African woman in traditional dress and beaded jewelry at left, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The central vignette presents a lakeside scene at sunset with a large watermark void circle, various wading birds and flamingos in flight across the middle ground, and a stork at the water's edge at right. Geometric guilloche panels in red and ochre frame the note at upper left and right corners, with the denomination numeral 500 repeated at each corner. |

| 背面描述 | At left, a large carved African mask head rendered in intaglio occupies the left margin against a richly patterned red-brown guilloche border. The central vignette shows students engaged in woodworking and scientific laboratory work, flanking a central watermark circle. At far right stands a full-length dark wooden African figurine statuette. The overall background is covered with a dense repeating palm-leaf guilloche underprint in terracotta tones. |

The Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale — the BEAC — replaced the earlier BCEAEC structure in 1972 as part of a broader realignment of the franc zone in central Africa, and this note belongs to the transitional series that followed. Chad's inclusion in a shared regional currency bloc has always sat uneasily alongside its political instability; by the mid-1970s the country was already deep in civil conflict, and much of the note-issuing apparatus functioned at a remove from a government that controlled only parts of its own territory.
Two signature combinations are recorded for P#2, reflecting successive appointments within the BEAC's administrative structure during the issue window.
