Beschrijving keerzijde Central device depicts the ancient Lion of Babylon monument, shown in left-facing profile atop a rectangular stone pedestal, rendered in high relief against a plain field suggestive of the archaeological site. The dual dating appears in the upper field, with the Hijri year ١٤٠٢هـ to the left and the Common Era year ١٩٨٢م to the right, both in Eastern Arabic numerals. The square flan with rounded corners is framed by a continuous milled border along all edges, consistent with the obverse design.

Aanvullende informatie

Iraq's 1982 coinage was struck under Ba'athist rule during the opening years of the Iran-Iraq War, a conflict that would eventually devastate the country's economy and drain its foreign reserves. The "Fils" spelling variant distinguished on this type — versus the alternative "Fals" transliteration used on some issues — reflects an inconsistency in the Central Bank's romanization policy that produced at least two catalogued subtypes of this denomination, hence the Schön 71.2 designation.
