| Obverse description | Central bimetallic insert depicting a stylised solar disc with radiating rays of varying lengths filling the gold outer ring, within which a crescent or globe motif bearing the Portuguese royal arms — the traditional quinas shield with five escutcheons — is set against a decorative foliate background in the silver centre.
