The complete Armenian alphabet, comprising all thirty-eight letters, encircles the central motif as a continuous border legend running along the inner rim. A small floral ornament serves as a divider within the alphabetic legend. The design celebrates the Armenian script, attributed to Saint Mesrop Mashtots in the early fifth century AD, within a clean, uncluttered field that emphasizes the calligraphic character. |

Part of Armenia's 38-coin alphabet series issued between 2011 and 2013, each piece commemorating a single letter of the Հայոց գրեր — the Armenian script created by Mesrop Mashtots around 405 AD. Ց (pronounced roughly "dz") sits near the end of the classical 36-letter alphabet. The series was struck by the Kremnica Mint in Slovakia.
