| Obverse description | Central oval intaglio portrait vignette of Georgios Stavros set against an elaborate multicolour guilloche underprint with rosette patterns flanked by architectural column motifs. Denomination numeral '500' appears in dark guilloche cartouches at left and right. A red letterpress overprint reading 'ΤΡΑΠΕΖΑ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ' crosses the centre of the note, replacing the original issuing bank name, with the legend 'ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ ΠΕΝΤΑΚΟΣΙΑΙ' inscribed on a panel below the portrait. Three manuscript signatures appear at the foot of the note. |
