| Obverse description | At left, a large intaglio-engraved lion's head vignette rendered in fine brown line work anchors the composition, with the bank's full English and Chinese names set in bold lettering across the top register. The denomination «FIVE HUNDRED HONGKONG DOLLARS» and its Chinese equivalent «港幣 伍佰元» appear in red at centre, above a faint multicolour underprint of the Hong Kong cityscape. The date, place of issue, HSBC logo, and Executive Director's signature are positioned in the lower centre, with ornate guilloche panels at the corners and a vertical security band towards the right margin. |
