| 正面描述 | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau centrally within the rhombus-shaped flan, featuring a traditional scene of a figure in a canoe above a heraldic shield bearing Neptune holding a trident alongside a mermaid, surrounded by a decorative border. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs above the arms along the upper field, flanked on either side by five raised stars arranged vertically. The inscription RAINBOW'S END appears within the lower portion of the shield, while the denomination 500$ is struck in the lower field. Two curved ornamental lines frame the lower portion of the design. |

HMAS Australia was a Royal Australian Navy cruiser that served in both World Wars before being deliberately scuttled off Sydney Heads in 1924 — a send-off attended by thousands of spectators and considered one of the most ceremonially significant naval farewells in Australian history. Palau has issued commemorative gold pieces under its own authority since the 1990s, functioning effectively as a contract mint client state for collector programs with no meaningful domestic circulation.
