Additional information

The Wedge-Tailed Eagle bullion series, launched by the Perth Mint in 2012, was designed explicitly to compete with established gold bullion programs from the Royal Canadian Mint and the United States Mint on the international investor market. The 5 oz format occupies an odd commercial niche — too large for most retail stackers, too common for serious numismatists — but has found consistent demand among institutional buyers and superannuation funds seeking allocated gold with Australian legal tender status.

The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, was adopted by the Perth Mint across its bullion range beginning in 2019.
