| Reverse description | The classic Iranian imperial arms occupy the central field: a rampant lion passant to the left, holding an upright sword in its right forepaw, with a radiant sun rising behind its back and a crown above. The lion and sun device is framed by a wreath of olive and oak branches tied at the base. Below the lion, the denomination '۵۰۰ دینار' (500 Dinars) is inscribed, with the Solar Hijri date '۱۳۳۰' (1330 AH / 1912 AD) appearing in the exergue beneath the wreath. The composition is enclosed within a dentilated border. |

Ahmad Shah was twelve years old when he ascended the Qajar throne in July 1909, installed after his father Mohammad Ali Shah was deposed and forced into Russian exile following his failed attempt to suppress the Constitutional Revolution. These coins were struck under a regency while the constitutional government consolidated power — a rare instance of a numismatic issue where the named sovereign was attending primary school during its production.
