Obverse description Central field bears the royal Arabic legend in three lines enclosed within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a wreath of olive and oak branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The inscription names Sultan Ahmad Shah Qajar and the mint city of Tehran, rendered in a formal Nasta'liq calligraphic style. The wreath frames the central cartouche and extends to the dentilated rim.

Reverse description The classic Iranian imperial arms occupy the central field: a rampant lion passant to the left, holding an upright sword in its right forepaw, with a radiant sun rising behind its back and a crown above. The lion and sun device is framed by a wreath of olive and oak branches tied at the base. Below the lion, the denomination '۵۰۰ دینار' (500 Dinars) is inscribed, with the Solar Hijri date '۱۳۳۰' (1330 AH / 1912 AD) appearing in the exergue beneath the wreath. The composition is enclosed within a dentilated border.
