White gold — technically a gold-nickel or gold-palladium alloy — carries no established numismatic tradition in sovereign coinage, which makes The Gambia's use of it here worth noting. The Platinum Jubilee itself marked Elizabeth II's 70th year on the throne, an occasion reached by no previous British monarch. She died in September 2022, roughly two months after the main jubilee celebrations concluded in June.
