Beschrijving voorzijde The central field displays the coat of arms of Rwanda, featuring a shield flanked by a sorghum stalk and a coffee branch, surmounted by a sun and supported by intertwined hands above a ribbon bearing the national motto. The design is set within a raised inner circle, with the left portion of the field rendered in a contrasting dark finish creating a crescent-like decorative band. The upper legend reads BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA in a circular arc, while REPUBLIKA Y'U RWANDA appears on the scroll above the shield. The denomination 500 MAGANA ATANU is prominently displayed along the lower portion of the field, flanked by AMAFARANGA to the left. The fineness mark AG 999 appears to the lower left, with the date 2018 to the right.

Aanvullende informatie

Rwanda's annual lunar issues are produced under license arrangements common to several small African nations that effectively outsource commemorative minting programs to European manufacturers — in this case almost certainly B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt in Munich, which has struck the majority of Rwanda's collector silver output. The coins carry legal tender status but have never circulated and exist purely as numismatic merchandise aimed at the Asian collector market, where demand for lunar-themed issues in gold-plated silver with crystal insets peaked sharply in the mid-2010s.

KM#177 is one of several 2018 Dog year variants distinguished by their reverse themes; "wealth" is typically paired with a specific crystal color to differentiate it from companion pieces in the same release.
