| Reverse description | Three polychrome color-printed clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) are depicted at centre, rendered naturalistically with their characteristic orange, white, and black banding against a stylized aquatic background. A seahorse (Hippocampus sp.) is shown to the right of the composition. The scientific name AMPHIPRION OCELLARIS is inscribed in the field. The reverse design is executed in high relief with selective color application, set against a proof-finished field. |

Rwanda has no coastline. The choice to issue a coin celebrating a coral reef fish native to the Indo-Pacific says everything about the nature of this series — it is a bullion and collector product aimed squarely at the international numismatic market, not domestic circulation. The National Bank of Rwanda became a favored issuing authority for exactly this kind of themed silver release in the late 2000s, lending its imprimatur to pieces with no organic connection to the country.
KM#76 is one of several wildlife-themed issues from this period that Rwanda licensed through third-party minting programs, almost certainly struck in Europe.
