The company name PHOENIX appears in large block letters at the top, with the subtitle AKTIEN-GESELLSCHAFT FÜR BERGBAU UND HÜTTENBETRIEB immediately below in a banner. A central cartouche in Gothic blackletter script renders the denomination FÜNFHUNDERTTAUSEND MARK, with the numeral 500 000 above it; a large ghost underprint of the numeral 500 in outline lettering occupies the lower left field. At the bottom, the place and date of issue, Düsseldorf 1 August 1923, appear alongside a circular vignette of a heraldic eagle, with the issuer's printed name and two manuscript signatures to the right, and the serial number to the lower left. |

| Opis rewersu | The reverse is printed in reddish-brown and pale yellow on plain paper, its central vignette occupying the upper two-thirds of the design: a large stylised phoenix bird with outstretched wings rises from leaping flames rendered in fine line work against a stippled background. The denomination 500000 is set in bold numerals to either side of the bird at the top of the vignette. Below the flames, a rendered brickwork wall fills the lower portion of the note, above which the issuer's name PHOENIX and the subtitle AKTIEN-GESELLSCHAFT FÜR BERGBAU UND HÜTTENBETRIEB are printed in bold serif lettering. |
