| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in reddish-brown and ochre tones on plain paper, with a decorative chain-link border framing the entire face. The company name PHOENIX appears in large block letters at the top, with the subtitle AKTIEN-GESELLSCHAFT FÜR BERGBAU UND HÜTTENBETRIEB immediately below in a banner. A central cartouche in Gothic blackletter script renders the denomination FÜNFHUNDERTTAUSEND MARK, with the numeral 500 000 above it; a large ghost underprint of the numeral 500 in outline lettering occupies the lower left field. At the bottom, the place and date of issue, Düsseldorf 1 August 1923, appear alongside a circular vignette of a heraldic eagle, with the issuer's printed name and two manuscript signatures to the right, and the serial number to the lower left. |
